Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker or large pot.
  • In a bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, chicken broth, honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully coated.
  • If using a slow cooker, set to low heat and cook for 6-7 hours, or on high heat for 3-4 hours. If using a pot on the stove, cover and simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours, checking occasionally to ensure the liquid doesn’t evaporate completely.
  • Once the chicken is fully cooked and tender, remove it from the pot or slow cooker and place it on a cutting board.
  • Using two forks, shred the chicken into small pieces.
  • Return the shredded chicken to the sauce in the pot or slow cooker. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly with the BBQ sauce.
  • Serve warm as a sandwich filling, on top of a salad, or with roasted vegetables. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the sauce mixture. Ensure all ingredients are halal-certified if following dietary restrictions.
