Ingredients

  • 1 package Hawaiian rolls (12 rolls)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • Butter for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar until well combined.
  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half to create two pieces from each roll.
  • Dip each piece of the Hawaiian roll into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated but not soaking.
  • Melt a small amount of butter in the preheated skillet.
  • Place the dipped Hawaiian roll pieces onto the skillet, cooking in batches if necessary, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Repeat the process, adding more butter as needed, until all pieces are cooked.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top and a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture.
