Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Spread the cookie dough evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges. Let cool completely in the pan.
Once cooled, use royal icing to create a flag design on top: use blue icing for the canton and red icing for the stripes.
Decorate with fresh blueberries and sliced strawberries to represent the stars and stripes of the flag.
Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
For a fun twist, you can add sprinkles to the royal icing for extra decoration.
