Preheat a griddle or non-stick skillet over medium heat.
In a mixing bowl, combine the pancake mix, water, and maple syrup until smooth. This will create the signature sweet and fluffy McGriddle base.
Lightly grease the griddle or skillet with butter or oil.
Pour the pancake batter onto the griddle in two small rounds, about 4 inches in diameter each. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, cook the sausage patties over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
Crack the eggs into the skillet and cook them to your preference (scrambled or sunny-side-up). If desired, break the yolks gently for a more uniform texture. Remove and set aside.
Assemble the McGriddle by layering: one pancake, a slice of American cheese, a sausage patty, the cooked egg, and the second pancake on top.
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to substitute the sausage patties with bacon or a vegetarian alternative. Add extra maple syrup for a sweeter flavor.
