Thoroughly wash the lemons under cold water to remove any dirt or residue.
Cut the lemons in half and squeeze the juice using a citrus juicer or reamer until you have approximately 1 1/2 cups of fresh lemon juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp if desired.
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and granulated sugar. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Add the cold water to the pitcher and stir again until fully combined.
Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice, if necessary.
Refrigerate the lemonade for about 30 minutes to chill or serve immediately over ice.
