Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained navy beans and apple pie filling.
In another bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
Pour the mixture over the beans and apple pie filling, stirring gently to combine all ingredients.
If using, fold in the chopped walnuts for added crunch.
Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish.
Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a vegan version, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative.
