  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained navy beans and apple pie filling.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture over the beans and apple pie filling, stirring gently to combine all ingredients.
  • If using, fold in the chopped walnuts for added crunch.
  • Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Dot the top with small pieces of butter.
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the top is bubbly and slightly caramelized.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute butter with a plant-based alternative.
